On August 20, Jinan Cultural Tourism Zone in Jingzhou held an academic seminar on new archaeological discoveries in Jinan, capital of the ancient Kingdom of Chu & an expert consultation conference on the Planning of the Park at an Archaeological Site in Jinan & a work conference on the compilation of The Chronicles of Jinan. Liu Yutang, former vice president and researcher of Hubei Academy of Social Sciences, president of Chu Culture Research Institute, and Wu Changjun, vice chairman of the Jingzhou Municipal Committee of the CPPCC and secretary of the Party Working Committee of Jinan Cultural Tourism Zone, attended the seminar.

The seminar introduced the work on archaeological excavation, compilation of The Chronicles of Jinan and planning of the park at an archaeological site in Jinan. Later the participants exchanged views with each other on the planning of the park.

The construction of the archaeological site park is an important measure to inherit the nation’s excellent traditional culture. We should promote the research, protection, display and utilization of the site from a development perspective and make plans from a high starting point so that the theme is clear, the characteristics are distinctive, and the integration of the city, people, site and forest can be realized. We should dig deeply and make good use of the cultural resources of the cultural sites, restore their original appearances and store energy for rural revitalization, Liu said.

All relevant units should promote the planning of the park with high standards and combine the construction of the park with the preservation and excavation of cultural relics, the exhibition of the heritage site and the construction of beautiful countryside so that people can share the fruits of the protection and utilization of cultural relics. We should strengthen scheduling and coordination, speed up the implementation of various tasks, and strive to build Jinan Cultural Tourism Zone into a Jingchu cultural heritage development center and a national demonstration zone for the protection and utilization of cultural relics, Wu said.

Before the seminar, the participants also inspected the sites of the archaeological excavation project and the protection and repair project in the East City of Jinan.
